Acceptable Use Policy

Acceptable Use Policy

This applies to anything we host for you, and to the client portal. It exists so that one customer's behaviour cannot damage another's service or our standing with our providers.

Effective 1 January 2026 Last updated 8 September 2026 Governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania Print this document

1. Where this applies

This policy applies to any website, application, mailbox or service hosted by Tech-X, to the Tech-X client portal, and to software we built where you have engaged us to operate it. It binds you and anyone you give access to.

2. What may not be hosted or sent

2.1 Illegal content

  • Anything unlawful under Tanzanian law, or under the law where your users are;
  • Child sexual abuse material — reported to the authorities immediately, without notice to you;
  • Content that incites violence, terrorism or hatred against a protected group;
  • Material that infringes copyright, trademark or another person's intellectual property.

2.2 Fraud and deception

  • Phishing pages, fake login screens or anything imitating another organisation;
  • Fraudulent stores, fake reviews or fabricated records;
  • Pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes and comparable financial deception;
  • Malware, ransomware, spyware or command-and-control infrastructure.

2.3 Email abuse

  • Unsolicited bulk email to lists you did not collect with consent;
  • Forged headers or misleading sender information;
  • Mail that omits a working unsubscribe mechanism where one is required.

2.4 Security abuse

  • Scanning, probing or attacking systems you do not own;
  • Denial-of-service traffic, whether targeting us or a third party;
  • Circumventing authentication or access controls, including ours;
  • Cryptocurrency mining on shared hosting.

3. Fair use of shared resources

On shared hosting, one account's consumption affects everyone on the machine. We may throttle or suspend a service that is degrading others through sustained CPU or memory use, runaway scripts or unusual bandwidth.

We will always contact you first where the situation allows it, and we will help you move to a plan that fits rather than simply cutting you off.

4. Your security obligations

  • Use a strong, unique password on every account, and do not share it;
  • Keep any software you manage yourself patched and current;
  • Tell us within 24 hours if you believe an account has been compromised;
  • Do not store payment card numbers in a system we built unless it was explicitly designed and audited for that;
  • Remove access for people who leave your organisation.

A compromised site on shared hosting can put every other site on that server at risk, which is why we may take a compromised account offline immediately while we clean it.

5. What we do about a breach

  1. We contact you with what we found and what needs to change, and give you a reasonable period to fix it — usually 48 hours;
  2. We suspend the specific content if it is not addressed, or immediately where the risk is severe;
  3. We suspend the account for repeated or serious breaches;
  4. We terminate for the most serious cases, with no refund of fees for the period already served.

For material that is unlawful and involves risk to a person, we act first and explain afterwards. For anything else we talk to you first.

6. Reporting abuse

If you believe something we host breaches this policy, write to info@tech-x.co.tz with “ABUSE” in the subject line, the URL, and what you believe is wrong.

We acknowledge every report within one business day and investigate within three. We will tell you the outcome unless doing so would compromise an investigation.
